A special operation for traffic under Clean Sri Lanka

The picture when it comes to vehicle modifications in Sri Lanka is truly blurry. This is because although certain criteria have been hinted at in the legal framework, they have failed to be implemented in a specific manner.
We believe that it is the right of the owner to personalize a vehicle according to his needs. However, it is imperative that other motor vehicles are driven in a manner that does not cause inconvenience to pedestrians and passengers.
The past few months have seen an increase in traffic accidents. Among them, an unroadworthy bus killed two students of the Kothagawala Defence University in Badulla, and a bus fell into a ravine in Hatton due to the driver's negligence, killing three people. Unauthorized modifications have been revealed during investigations as a reason for the increase in damage.
Based on the above incidents, traffic officers have been instructed to conduct 2 operations per day for 2 hours each in all police areas from 2025.01.02 to ensure traffic safety. Through these raids, vehicle driving conditions will be checked.
- Color changes
- Inspection of lights installed with different colors that flash continuously
- Use of different horns
- Advertising various drawings, designs and advertisements
- Illegal installations and design changes
It has been announced that all of the above will be subject to investigation. We, Motorguide, respectfully request that if your vehicle has been modified to reflect the above, it be done within the legal framework and that all illegal modifications be removed.
It is our hope that everyone will commit to creating a more advanced transportation system in the country through a safe driving environment.
