A special traffic plan in Colombo from today
A special traffic plan will be implemented in the vicinity of the Independence Square in Colombo from today (29) due to the 77th Independence Day celebrations.
The police stated that the traffic plan will be implemented from today (29) until the 2nd of next month and from 6.00 am to 12.00 noon on the 4th of next month, when the Independence Day celebrations will be held.
Accordingly, the police have informed that the following traffic plan will be implemented from 8.00 am in order to avoid any disruption to children attending school on the above-mentioned dates during the rehearsals for the Independence Day celebrations.
Road closures / traffic restrictions
A. Bauddhaloka Mawatha, entering from Torrington Junction towards Premakeerthi de Alwis Mawatha.
B. R.F.P. Junction to Government Administration.
C. Wijerama Vidya Mawatha Junction to Vidya Mawatha.
D. R.G. Senanayake Mawatha, Maitland Chandrawanka Junction to Free Roundabout.
E. Nidahas Mawatha to Free Roundabout and Maitland Chandrawanka Junction.
F. Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha, Foundation Mawatha Junction to Free Mawatha.
G. Nidahas Roundabout to Freedom Square.
H. Library Roundabout to Horton Roundabout (restricted).
I. Nidahas Foundation Junction to Free Mawatha.
Bypassing areas where traffic is restricted or road closures are in effect as follows You can enter Colombo.
01. Vehicles coming from Nanda Motors can turn right at the freeway roundabout and enter Bauddhaloka Mawatha via Philip Gunawardena Mawatha and Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha.
02. Vehicles coming from Bauddhaloka Mawatha towards Horton Roundabout can proceed along Wijerama Mawatha and Horton Wijerama towards Horton Place.
03. Vehicles coming from Wijerama Mawatha towards Thummulla from Vidya Wijerama Junction can proceed towards Bullers Wijerama via Vidya Wijerama Junction and proceed towards Kanatta and towards Thummulla.

During the closures and restrictions on traffic, residents of the areas can travel on the instructions of traffic officers.
The above roads will be opened for traffic after the end of the rehearsal duties and the Independence Day celebrations.
