கண்ணோட்டம்

Are you looking for a compact hybrid SUV that fits Colombo traffic without sacrificing a raised driving position? The 2026 Daihatsu Rocky Premium G HEV targets urban families moving up from a hatchback. Its appeal comes from compact dimensions, motor-driven response and low official fuel consumption. Sri Lankan availability appears importer-led, so buyers must verify the exact grade, warranty, safety package and after-sales support before paying.

நன்மைகள்

Compact road footprint: Its 3,995 mm length and 5.0-metre turning radius suit narrow roads and restricted parking.

Useful ground clearance: The official 185 mm figure provides more clearance than a typical low hatchback.

Strong official efficiency: The Premium G HEV records 28.0 km/l on the Japanese combined WLTC cycle.

Immediate low-speed torque: The electric motor provides 170 Nm from zero rpm, supporting responsive urban acceleration.

Useful standard safety equipment: Premium G HEV includes six airbags, full-speed ACC and Lane Keep Control.

தீமைகள்

No confirmed official Sri Lankan support: Daihatsu’s published international service network does not list Sri Lanka. Warranty and diagnostics therefore depend on the importer.

The hybrid is front-wheel drive only: Buyers needing four-wheel drive must consider the separate 1.0-litre turbo petrol version.

Several desirable features remain optional: The nine-inch display, panoramic camera, BSM and RCTA are not fitted to every vehicle.

No spare wheel is offered on the HEV: Premium G HEV receives a puncture-repair kit instead. This matters during rural or outstation travel.

Certification history requires a documentation check: Daihatsu previously identified procedural irregularities involving Rocky HEV testing. Authorities later confirmed compliance and lifted the shipment suspension.

4
out of 5

Based on owner feedback, published road tests and early market impressions, the 2026 Daihatsu Rocky Premium G HEV is generally described as an easy and responsive compact SUV for urban use. Its electric motor delivers immediate low-speed torque, while the petrol engine mainly generates electricity, giving it quiet and direct acceleration in traffic. Owners also value the raised seating position, compact dimensions and easy manoeuvrability. However, the 17-inch wheels can produce a firm ride over potholes and damaged roads. It is best suited to daily commuting, school runs and light outstation travel rather than demanding off-road use.

Exterior Design

Japanese owner feedback generally favours the Rocky’s upright SUV shape and square-cut proportions. Its 3,995 mm length also gives buyers an SUV-style design without the parking footprint of a larger crossover.
