Police are requesting drivers to refrain from giving money to beggars on the road near traffic signals.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Indika Hapugoda stated this while participating in a press conference held at the Government Information Department.
Accordingly, the police say that if money is given to beggars near traffic signals, a fine will be imposed.
It is reported that this decision has been taken to prevent inconvenience caused to the public, including drivers, by beggars near traffic signals.
