Pros

400 km WLTP range: This provides a useful official benchmark for inter-city use. Local testing estimated roughly 350–400 km depending on traffic and driving habits.

450-litre boot and 2,715 mm wheelbase: These dimensions support family use and useful passenger space. Local testing also reported generous rear legroom.

30% to 80% charging in 30 minutes: This figure applies with an 80 kW DC charger. It gives owners a clear benchmark when planning longer journeys.

Long warranty coverage: The vehicle gets seven years or 150,000 km of coverage. Battery coverage lasts eight years or 160,000 km, subject to terms.

Cons

Only four airbags are listed locally: The J6 has several active safety systems. Buyers prioritising passive occupant protection should note the four-airbag specification.

1,910 mm width: Independent Sri Lankan testing found the width noticeable on very tight streets. Narrow urban roads and older parking spaces may require extra care.

Rear-wheel drive only: The confirmed Sri Lankan specification does not include all-wheel drive. Buyers should not interpret the rugged styling as proof of 4x4 capability.

Heavy touchscreen dependence: Local testing found climate and seat functions routed through the central display. Drivers preferring physical controls may find this less convenient.

Driver Insights

4
out of 5

Based on published Sri Lankan road tests and early market impressions, the JAECOO J6 delivers a quiet, comfort-focused driving experience rather than a sporty one. Local testing describes the 135 kW electric power delivery as smooth and linear, with enough performance for city traffic and highway overtaking. The light steering and effective bump absorption suit everyday Sri Lankan roads, while the 1,910 mm width can require extra care on narrow streets and tight parking areas. Mild regenerative braking also makes the J6 feel easy to adapt to for drivers moving from a conventional petrol vehicle.

Exterior Design

Independent Sri Lankan coverage highlights the J6's upright, boxy styling as one of its main distinguishing features. The same testing found its 1,910 mm width required care on especially narrow streets.
