Cancellation of Non-Renewable Driving Licence

It has been decided to cancel all unrenewable driving licenses. Motor Transport Commissioner General Nishantha Weerasinghe stated that the decision was made considering reported road accidents.
Accordingly, he said that a stock of approximately 1.1 million unrenewable heavy vehicle driving licenses would be cancelled before the end of this year.
Holders of those driving licenses must obtain new driving licenses within a grace period.
The Commissioner General also stated that they must undergo proper medical examinations for this purpose.
In addition, Motor Transport Commissioner General Nishantha Weerasinghe mentioned that 1 million unrenewable light vehicle driving licenses are also scheduled to be cancelled in the future.
