Special Traffic Plan in Rajagiriya on Thursday

The submission of nominations for the 2024 presidential election is scheduled to take place at the Election Secretariat on August 15.

The Police Media Division stated that a special traffic plan will be implemented tomorrow (Aug. 15) from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

On 2024.08.15, from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM, vehicle movement will be restricted on the old road section from Welikada Junction to Ayurveda Junction (entering Colombo).

On 2024.08.15, from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM, all vehicles traveling from Talawathugoda Junction towards Colombo must proceed via Talawathugoda Junction, Kimbulawala Junction to Pitakotte Junction, then via Nawala Road towards Narahenpita or Nugegoda, and then proceed towards Colombo.

Vehicles coming to the old road from Obeysekara Pura road must travel via Madinnagoda to Welikada Junction.

On 2024.08.15, from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM, entry for container vehicles and tipper lorries loaded with stones and sand will be restricted from Polduwa Junction towards Borella and from Borella towards Polduwa Junction.

Furthermore, arrangements will be made to inform the respective political parties and independent groups regarding the parking of vehicles for witnesses accompanying presidential candidates and the placement of supporters.

Drivers are requested to be aware and use alternative routes, avoiding the area from Welikada Junction along Sri Jayawardenepura Road to Ayurveda Junction, and the old road from Ayurveda Junction to Welikada Junction.

Buses on the following routes must travel to their destinations as follows:

  • Route 176 buses must come to Welikada Junction from Nawala Road, then proceed along Sri Jayawardenepura Road to Ayurveda Junction, and then to their destination.
  • Buses on routes 170, 171, 175, 177, 190 must come to Welikada Junction, then proceed along Sri Jayawardenepura Road to Ayurveda Junction, and then to their destination. All vehicles entering Colombo from Polduwa side and Nawala Road can normally come to Welikada Junction and from there proceed to Ayurveda Junction and enter Colombo as usual. All vehicles entering Sri Jayawardenepura Road from all feeder roads on the side entering Colombo, between Welikada Junction and Ayurveda Junction, must turn left and proceed towards Borella Ayurveda Junction. Vehicles exiting Colombo from Borella Kota Road and Castle Street can come to Ayurveda Junction and then proceed from Ayurveda Junction along the old road to Welikada Junction. Also, all vehicles entering the old road from feeder roads must turn left and proceed towards Welikada Junction.

On 2024.08.15, from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM, vehicle movement will be restricted on the section of Sri Jayawardenepura Road from Ayurveda Junction to Welikada (exiting Colombo).
