The Licence Card Did Not Arrive? Here Is the Solution

To legally drive a vehicle in Sri Lanka, several documents are required. Among them, the driving license is very important. This is because the driving license is the permit issued by the government to confirm that we can drive a vehicle correctly.

However, many people who have recently obtained a new license or renewed an old one have been issued a temporary driving license instead of the actual license card. If you still haven't received your license card, MotorGuide is here today to inform you about the solution.

Aren't they issuing the card?

Due to the lack of imported cards for printing driving licenses, a temporary paper license has been issued for driving licenses for over two years.

The government has announced that the current issues with issuing driving licenses will be resolved by next October. Accordingly, it has been stated that permanent driving licenses will be issued through a one-day service instead of temporary driving licenses, as was done previously.

How will it be issued?

The Commissioner General of Motor Traffic states that the issuance of driving license cards to individuals who have been issued temporary driving licenses will begin as soon as possible, and the cards will be sent to these applicants by post. It is also planned to issue cards in this manner to nearly 600,000 individuals who have received temporary driving licenses.

They also mentioned that the issuance of cards would be completed within a few weeks of commencement.

If it has expired

You can see an expiry date on the temporary driving license issued to you instead of the actual license. Usually, this period is between 90 and 180 days from the date of issue.

If this date has passed, you could be fined by the traffic police. Therefore, if your temporary license has expired, renew it quickly.

So, we hope you've found answers to a major problem you had today. If your license card still hasn't arrived, don't worry. You will soon be able to receive your license card by post at your home.
