Nowadays, many people use auto gear vehicles. This is because driving these vehicles is easier than driving manual vehicles. There are several things to be aware of when driving an auto gear vehicle. Do you drive an auto gear vehicle? So, are you aware of the things to consider when driving an auto vehicle? Some people don't know these things exactly. That's why today MotorGuide is telling you about the things to be aware of when driving an auto gear vehicle.

What is an Auto Vehicle?

These auto gear vehicles were introduced to the world in 1921. However, it was after the year 2000 that auto gear vehicles saw increased demand in Sri Lanka. A manual vehicle has three pedals: the clutch, the brake, and the accelerator. However, an auto gear vehicle only has two pedals: the accelerator and the brake. Auto gear vehicles do not have a clutch pedal. The action that would be performed by the clutch pedal is performed by the vehicle itself. When the vehicle moves forward, the gears change automatically.

Advantages of an Auto Vehicle

In a manual vehicle, gears need to be changed frequently. This can be a bit troublesome for us. However, in an auto vehicle, there's no need to change gears like that. Auto vehicles change gears when necessary. This allows the driver to drive the vehicle easily. Auto vehicles not only provide convenience but also increase fuel efficiency. Additionally, benefits such as improved safety and reduced accidents are also gained from an auto gear vehicle.

Things to Do and Not Do When Driving Auto Vehicles

Putting into Neutral while Descending a Slope

When some auto gear vehicles are descending a slope and are in gear, if the accelerator is not engaged, the vehicle's speed can decrease significantly. In such situations, many people try to put the vehicle into neutral and then reduce its speed using the brakes while driving. Putting the vehicle in neutral while on a slope frequently leads to accidents. Therefore, never put the vehicle into neutral when driving on a slope.

Not Checking Transmission Oil

Even though we check other oils in the vehicle, we often don't check the transmission oil. However, just like other types of oil in the vehicle, we must definitely check the transmission oil. An auto gear vehicle has a dipstick to check the transmission oil level. Remember that the oil level should be checked both when the engine is stopped and when it is running. The damage caused to the vehicle by low transmission oil can lead to a large expense for vehicle repair.

Driving on the Last Drop of Fuel

Many people are accustomed to driving their vehicle without refueling when the fuel tank is low. This causes damage to the vehicle's engine as well as to its other components. Therefore, it is very important to ensure that an auto gear vehicle always has at least a small amount of fuel remaining.

Engaging Parking Mode Before the Vehicle Stops

Engaging parking mode before the vehicle has completely stopped is also a big mistake many people make. There is a small brake pin that holds the vehicle without driving it in park mode. Engaging park mode before the vehicle has completely stopped can cause this pin to wear out quickly. Also, depending on how the gears are positioned, you might encounter problems if you try to stop the vehicle while driving. Therefore, you should only engage parking mode after the vehicle has completely stopped.

These are the things you need to know when driving an auto vehicle. So, if you also drive an auto gear vehicle, you must definitely pay attention to the things we discussed today.
