What Happened to the Apple Car?

When we say Apple, we immediately think of mobile phones. However, in addition to mobile phones, Apple also designs other technological devices and various types of vehicles. So, today, through MotorGuide weekly news, we are telling you about a setback that the Apple car faced.
Rumors that Apple was planning to create a fully autonomous (self-driving) electric car first began to circulate in 2014. However, even after 10 years, much of it has not yet been seen as a prototype.
However, experts in the automotive world say that if Apple ever builds an EV, it will be very different from what was initially conceived.
Nevertheless, a report released by Bloomberg suggests that the Apple car's debut has been delayed again. The reason cited is that its production is planned for 2028. However, a few years ago, Reuters reported that Apple was targeting 2024 as the start of Apple car production.
Furthermore, the latest Bloomberg report states that Apple is currently planning to limit the self-driving capabilities. Initially, the company had planned for a fully autonomous system, which was officially defined as Level 5 by the engineering team SAE International.
However, due to current technological limitations, Apple has decided to scale back that plan and is instead targeting SAE Level 4 capability. This means the car will be fully autonomous only on approved highways. This decision implies that the Apple car will no longer be a robotaxi type without a steering wheel or pedals, as the company is reportedly planning to include those controls in the vehicle.
Accordingly, the Apple car is now expected to be limited to "Level 2+". This is not an official level as defined by SAE. Unofficially, it is stated to include more features than an SAE Level 2 system. However, it will be similar to many new vehicles currently in production.
So this is what happened to the car that the world-famous Apple company was preparing to create. MotorGuide weekly news is ready to bring you the latest details on this as soon as they become available.
