Driving License Motor Vehicle Categories

A driving license includes several vehicle categories. These categories are listed on the back of the license. Vehicles are categorized based on engine capacity and vehicle weight. Now, we will tell you separately what those categories are, what vehicles belong to each category, and their engine capacity and weight.

Category A1

Motorcycles with an engine capacity not exceeding 100cc belong to this category.

Category A

Motorcycles with an engine capacity exceeding 100cc belong to this category.

Category B1

Motor tricycles not exceeding 500 kg, motor tricycle vans, and vehicles with a gross weight not exceeding 1,000 kg belong to this category.

Category B

All motor cars with not more than 9 seats including the driving seat, and dual-purpose vehicles with a gross weight not exceeding 3,500 kg and not more than 9 seats including the driving seat, belong to this B category. Also, these vehicles may be attached to a trailer with an authorized maximum weight not exceeding 750 kg. This class of motor vehicles may also include motor vehicles driven by persons with different abilities.

Category C1

Category C1 includes light motor lorries with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3,500 kg and not exceeding 17,000 kg. Motor vehicles in this category may be attached to a trailer with a maximum weight not exceeding 750 kg. Ambulances and funeral vehicles are also included in this class of motor vehicles.

Category C

Motor lorries with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 17,000 kg belong to category C. These may be attached to a trailer with a maximum weight not exceeding 750 kg.

Category CE

This category includes a motor lorry combined with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg but with a gross weight not exceeding 3,500 kg, or combined vehicles with attached trailers.

Category D1

Motor vehicles used to transport persons, with more than 9 seats in addition to the driving seat and less than 33 seats, belong to this category. In this D1 category, a trailer with a maximum load not exceeding 750 kg may be attached.

Category D

Category D includes motor coach vehicles with more than 33 seats in addition to the driving seat, and they may be attached to a trailer with a maximum load not exceeding 750 kg.

Category DE

Category DE includes a motor coach vehicle with more than 33 seats in addition to the driving seat, and a trailer weighing more than 750 kg, or a combination of two motor coach vehicles.

Category G1

Two-wheeled hand tractors with a trailer belong to Category G1.

Category G

Agricultural land vehicles with or without a trailer can be found in Category G.

Category J

Commercial vehicles used for construction, loading, and similar purposes belong to this category.
