Today, through MotorGuide, we are going to tell you how important the battery is to a vehicle and how to choose the right battery for your vehicle.

Symptoms of Battery Defects

  • Headlights dimming without a clear mechanical reason
  • Engine cranking slower than usual
  • Vehicle backfiring
  • A 'clicking' sound when turning the ignition key
  • Gas leaking
  • Having voltage issues in the car

Battery Size

The car owner needs to choose the correct battery that fits their car's battery tray. However, the size of the car battery varies based on its model. You can find the exact matching battery size from your car's manual.

However, manufacturers design batteries according to group sizes. Sometimes, your car's manual may not contain details about the battery size. In such a situation, you should meet battery suppliers to find out the exact battery size that matches your vehicle. You cannot arbitrarily decide the battery size yourself.

Consider the Brand

Although we don't always think about it, when choosing a suitable battery for a vehicle, one thing we must consider is the brand. So, if you are replacing your car battery, check the brand name before changing it. However, you also need to consider your budget here. This is because batteries are available in the market at both low and very high prices.

However, if you are planning to buy a low-cost battery, you must ensure that it meets the requirements specified in the car's manual.

Because it is more cost-effective to buy a high-quality battery and use it for a long time than to buy a cheap battery and replace it again after a short period.

Consider Durability

When choosing the right battery for your vehicle, a factor we must definitely consider is long-term durability. This is because new batteries operate more efficiently than older ones. Therefore, before buying a battery, be mindful of the battery's manufacturing date and year.

Power/Voltage Consumption

To check performance, the Power/Voltage consumption of the car's battery is tested. Battery RC can determine the amount of voltage supplied to the car. If your battery's RC is working well, whether the car's alternator is working or not is not an issue. It is important to remember to choose the battery RC according to the specific model of the car.

Checking the Battery's CCA

CCA stands for Cold Cranking Amps. It determines your car's ability to operate in extremely hot or cold conditions. Therefore, you should pay attention to this as well.

How to Maintain Your Car Battery

  • Limit the number of times you start the engine
  • Do not charge electronic devices from the car battery
  • Get a battery with the correct capacity
  • Install the battery correctly
  • Check the battery regularly

So, this is how you choose the right battery for your vehicle. If you don't have proper knowledge about this, don't forget to get help from a car mechanic.
