A special traffic plan in Colombo tomorrow 15 police

The submission of nominations for the 2024 Presidential Election is scheduled to take place at the Elections Secretariat on August 15.

The Police Media Division stated that a special traffic plan will be implemented tomorrow (Aug. 15) from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The traffic plan will be implemented as stated below on that day.

Accordingly

On 2024.08.15 from 08:00 am to 02:00 pm, the old road section from Welikada Junction to Ayurveda Junction (entering Colombo) will be restricted.

On 2024.08.15 from 08:00 am to 02:00 pm, traffic will be restricted from Thalawathugoda Junction towards Colombo. All vehicles should proceed to Pitakotte Junction via Thalawathugoda Junction, Kimbulawala Junction and proceed towards Narahenpita or Nugegoda via Nawala Road and proceed towards Colombo.

Vehicles coming to the old road via Obesekarapura Road should proceed to Welikada Junction via Madinnagoda

On 15.08.2024, from 08.00 am to 02.00 pm, container trucks and tippers loaded with stones and sand will be restricted from Polduwa Junction towards Borella and from Borella to Polduwa Junction.

Furthermore, steps will be taken to inform the respective political parties and independent groups regarding the parking of vehicles of witnesses accompanying the presidential candidates and the placement of party supporters.

From Welikada Junction to Sri Jayewardenepura Road to Ayurveda Junction, the old road I request drivers to avoid the area from Ayurveda Junction to Welikada Junction and use alternative routes.

Buses on the following routes should proceed to their destinations as follows.

Route 176 should proceed to Welikada Junction via Nawala Road and proceed to Ayurveda Junction via Sri Jayewardenepura Road and proceed to their destinations.

Buses on routes 170, 171, 175, 177, 190 should proceed to Welikada Junction via Sri Jayewardenepura Road and proceed to Ayurveda Junction via Sri Jayewardenepura Road and proceed to their destinations. All vehicles entering Colombo from Polduwa and Nawala Road can proceed to Welikada Junction as usual and from there to Ayurveda Junction and enter Colombo as usual.

All vehicles entering Sri Jayewardenepura Road from all by-roads on the side entering Colombo between Welikada Junction and Ayurveda Junction should turn left and proceed towards Borella Ayurveda Junction. Vehicles leaving Colombo from Borella Kota Road and Castle Street can proceed to Ayurveda Junction and proceed from Ayurveda Junction along the old road to Welikada Junction. Also, all vehicles entering the old road from the side roads should turn left and proceed towards the Welikada Junction.

On 15.08.2024, the Sri Jayewardenepura Road from Ayurveda Junction to Welikada (exit from Colombo) will be closed to traffic from 08.00 am to 02.00 pm.
