What's the first thing you do during a driving test? Get nervous, feel a bit scared, right? But the first thing you should do is calm down. Because the examiner on the other side is paying close attention from the moment you get into the vehicle until you get out after the test. Sometimes even a small, unexpected reason can cause you to fail the test. So, through MotorGuide, today we're telling you what you should do first during your driving test.

What is expected of you on the day of the test?

During the driving test, the officials first look at whether you are properly prepared for the test. Next, they expect everything from the start of the test, clutch balance, steering wheel control, gear shifting, how to drive the vehicle when facing obstacles, and the end of the test. Therefore, you cannot just do the test haphazardly. Even if you do, you won't pass.

Also, you need to know how to get into the vehicle during the test, and what you should do first after getting in. This should definitely have been taught by your driving school. Regardless, we are now telling you what you should and shouldn't do during the driving test.

How to enter the vehicle?

Approach the vehicle from the rear and enter. When opening the driver's side door, you must look behind you before opening it. After sitting in the driving seat, check if the door is properly closed. Because many people, in their rush, don't check the doors after sitting down. This is also one reason for failing the test.

After sitting in the driving seat, the next thing you need to do is adjust the seat to your comfort. Depress the clutch fully and adjust the driving seat as you need. Okay, now the next thing you need to do is adjust the side mirrors and the rear view mirror to your comfort. Don't forget to put on your seat belt.

What is the nature of the road?

When demonstrating the test, you will encounter different road conditions. You should be able to drive on any road without issues, regardless of its nature. How do you shift gears on a hilly area, a flat area, or a patchy section? You need to know about all these things. So, have a good understanding of the road conditions during the test.

How to put the vehicle on the road?

First, depress the clutch and shift into first gear. Then, balance the clutch. Now, release the parking brake. At that moment, be sure to check the left side mirror thoroughly to see if a pedestrian or another vehicle is approaching. Check the right side mirror, then activate the right signal light. Next, you must give a hand signal. After that, release the brake. If there are no vehicles, keep the clutch engaged and gradually move the vehicle onto the road. However, do not abruptly pull the vehicle into the middle of the road. Proceed slowly along the edge of the road. After moving the vehicle onto the road in this manner, turn off the right signal light that you activated earlier.

Increase the vehicle's speed by accelerating and shift to the next gear. Neutral, then 2nd. After that, accelerate again and shift into 3rd gear. Now, what you need to do is drive forward with an understanding of the road and by checking your side mirrors. Here, you also need to be mindful of how you control the steering wheel.

Do not release the brake suddenly

If you need to stop the vehicle for any reason while driving, press the brake. To stop the vehicle, indicate left, reduce speed, and slowly bring the vehicle to a halt. However, don't suddenly take your foot off the brake after applying it.

Follow traffic rules

When driving, never fail to follow traffic rules. Also, follow road signs. Because the driving examiner pays close attention to these things. The other thing is that you must give hand signals correctly. When driving, observe the side mirrors and the rear view mirror carefully.

Be mindful of pedestrians

Many people, due to their focus on the test, forget about pedestrians. But that shouldn't happen. Because pedestrians can suddenly cross the road. Therefore, you need to be very attentive when driving past pedestrian crossing points. Because if not, you won't be able to pass the test. In addition, you will have to face other problems.

Be cautious when overtaking

When overtaking a vehicle, the first thing you need to do is check the right side mirror. Only then should you change lanes. Don't forget to keep both hands on the steering wheel at all times.

Hold the steering wheel correctly

Many people hold the steering wheel however they like. But there is a correct way to hold the steering wheel. That's the method you should follow here. You should also be able to drive the vehicle straight. When signaling, do not take your hand off the steering wheel. Keep your hand on the steering wheel and activate the signal light.

Do not stop carelessly

The driving examiner will tell you to stop the vehicle ahead. If you suddenly stop the vehicle without any consideration at that moment, you might fail the test. The reason for this is that there are places where you cannot stop the vehicle. These include pedestrian crossings, near an intersection box, or near a gate. You cannot stop the vehicle in such places. So, stop the vehicle attentively.

How to exit the vehicle?

After stopping the vehicle, unbuckle your seat belt. Now, don't try to open the door all at once. Check the side mirrors carefully to see if any vehicles are approaching from behind. Only open the door if there are no vehicles. Here too, you should exit the vehicle from the rear.

Frankly, the driving test is the biggest challenge anyone faces when getting a driving license. However, the test isn't something to be overly afraid of. If you have good practice and confidence in yourself, you can definitely pass the test. But in addition to that, the things we talked about today must also be considered. So, don't forget these things during your driving test.
