A vehicle completely relies on its tires. However, many people don't pay much attention to these tires. That's why tires, which propel the vehicle forward, can cause many road accidents. Especially, the air quantity and pressure in the tires must be maintained correctly. Therefore, today MotorGuide will tell you about some common mistakes made when inflating tires.

Using Incorrect Pressure

A common mistake made when inflating tires is using incorrect pressure. You can find the correct tire pressure for your specific vehicle on a sticker on the driver's door or in the owner's manual. Do not rely on the current pressure in the tire or what you think it should be.

Under-inflating

Not having enough air in your tires creates a domino effect of many problems. Some of these include uneven wear, poor handling, and lower gas mileage. Under-inflated tires are also more flexible, which can cause them to overheat excessively and increase the risk of a blowout. This risk is especially high on hot days.

Over-inflating

Just as under-inflating tires is dangerous, over-inflating them is also dangerous. This is because over-inflating tires can lead to a harsh ride, reduced traction, and an increased risk of punctures from potholes or other road debris. Specifically, an over-inflated tire makes less contact with the road, thereby reducing grip.

Ignoring Pressure Changes

Tire pressure is not constant. It can naturally change due to variations in temperature. When the weather gets cooler, the pressure in your tires decreases. Similarly, when the ambient temperature increases, the pressure in the tires also increases. Therefore, regularly checking your tire pressure is very important. If you can check your tire pressure once a month and before any long journey, you can prevent many accidents.

Relying on Gas Station Gauges

Not all air pressure gauges are equal. Especially those at gas stations may not be very accurate. The reason for this is that the machines there are not always well-maintained. Therefore, to get the most accurate readings, you should get a quality tire pressure gauge. Also, digital gauges are often much easier to read than analog ones.

So, these are the mistakes that occur when inflating a tire. If you are knowingly or unknowingly making these mistakes, avoid them. This is very important for your safety as well as the safety of other people on the road.
