When driving a vehicle, thinking about your safety as well as the safety of others on the road is very important. If you know tricks you can use while driving, you can prevent accidents for yourself and others on the road. So, today MotorGuide thought we'd tell you what tricks you should know if you own a vehicle.

Vehicle Key Battery

Most modern vehicles have a smart start key facility. This means most vehicles are started with a smart key. This smart key has a battery. Typically, the smart key's battery drains. So, in such a situation, you need to open the battery with the key. This applies to both Honda and Toyota vehicles, as well as any vehicle with a similar key fob. If you remove the battery and try to bring it close to the car's start point, it won't indicate anything. This means if you try to press it, the display will show "key not detected." However, you can bring the key's logo close to the vehicle's start point. Then press the brake. Now you can start the vehicle. So, if your vehicle's smart key battery dies, remember to use this trick.

Steering Wheel

Another thing many people don't know is the correct way to hold a vehicle's steering wheel. There is a correct method to hold a vehicle's steering wheel, which is the "nine and three" method. So, when you drive a vehicle, you should hold the steering wheel according to the "nine and three" method. However, many people hold the steering wheel using the "ten and two" method. But that method is old. So, to drive safely, you should hold the steering wheel correctly. The correct way to hold the steering wheel

But that method is old because now there's an airbag in the middle of the steering wheel, and it's recommended to hold the steering wheel where your hands naturally move away from it to minimize potential harm to your hands in an accident. So, to drive safely, you should hold the steering wheel correctly.

Front Mirror

The front mirror is very important for observing other vehicles on the road. So, this front mirror needs to be adjusted correctly. This means you need to adjust it so that you can clearly see other vehicles on the road while driving.

Also, if your vehicle's front mirror fogs up, there are two icons on the dashboard. You can use these icons to remove the fog from the front mirror.

Rear View Mirror

When you drive at night, the headlights of vehicles behind you reflect in the rear view mirror. This can make it difficult for you to drive. So, when you drive at night, flip up the small tab at the bottom of the rear view mirror. This will allow you to drive without difficulty.

Child Safety Lock

If you're traveling with children, you can use this trick. Children often open car doors suddenly. If that happens, the risk of a major accident is high. That's why vehicles come with a manufacturer's feature called the child lock. It prevents the car door from being opened from the inside. This is located on the car's door. Once this lock is activated, the car door cannot be opened from the inside; it can only be opened from the outside. So, when traveling with children, make sure to activate the child lock.

In Case of Brake Failure

In case your vehicle's brakes fail, if it's a manual vehicle, you need to downshift the gear according to the vehicle's speed. Then slowly reduce the gear. If it's an automatic transmission, you need to shift the vehicle from 'drive' to 'S' (Sport). After that, shift the vehicle to 'B' (Brake/Engine Brake) and then, after taking your foot off the accelerator, engage the handbrake. Then you will be able to stop the vehicle.

When Parking

When parking, while the vehicle is still in drive, you should shift the vehicle into neutral and engage the handbrake. Then, you should release the foot brake. The vehicle will then move slightly forward and stop. After that, you can put it in 'park'. Parking this way also protects the vehicle's gearbox.

Vehicle Model Code

Typically, in Japanese vehicles, there is a frame on the left side of the passenger compartment. From this frame, you can find out your vehicle's model. Also, you can learn everything about the vehicle, such as its grade and engine, from this frame.

These are the tricks you should know if you own a vehicle. So, if you want to drive safely on the road, don't forget to pay attention to these tricks.

Correct Hand Brake and Gear Brake Combination When Parking

The main thing needed when parking a vehicle is to ensure the vehicle remains stable, whether on a flat surface, an incline, or a decline. The hand brake acts as a support to assist in parking.

So, when parking, you should first switch off the vehicle after putting it in a low gear in the opposite direction. That means if the vehicle is facing uphill, you should park it in 1st gear. This is because the vehicle will try to roll backward. After that, you need to engage the assist brake, which is the handbrake. If the vehicle's handbrake is not working, we recommend blocking the tires on opposite sides. This means if you have a block on the front left, the other one should be on the rear right.
