A vehicle plays a vital role in our daily life, making transportation and work easier. But owning a vehicle also comes with responsibility. Taking care of your car doesn’t only mean keeping it clean — regular maintenance and timely replacement of parts is equally important. Knowing when to replace certain parts can extend the life of your vehicle and prevent costly repairs. Today, MotorGuide explains the correct replacement intervals for major vehicle components.

1. Engine Oil

Your car’s engine requires oil to function smoothly, lubricate moving parts, and trap dust or debris. Engine oil should typically be changed every 3 to 6 months, or as soon as the dashboard oil warning light appears. Ignoring oil changes can cause severe engine damage.

2. Tires

Tires carry the full weight of your vehicle and are your only contact with the road. For safety and efficiency, replace them after about 40,000 km of driving. Even if unused, tires should be replaced every 5–7 years, as rubber degrades with time and weather conditions.

3. Spark Plugs

Spark plugs ignite the fuel-air mixture in the engine. Worn plugs can reduce performance and fuel efficiency. Replace them every 50,000 km or once a year. Regular cleaning helps extend their life.

4. Air Filter

The air filter protects the engine from dust and dirt, ensuring efficient performance. Replace it every 40,000 km or roughly every 3 years to keep the engine running smoothly.

5. Battery

A battery powers ignition and electrical systems. Its lifespan is usually 3 to 4 years. Even if unused, a battery can degrade, so remove it if the vehicle is parked for long periods. Learn how to replace it when overdue.

6. Brake Pads

Brake pads are critical for safety. City driving and heavy vehicles require more frequent replacements. On average, change them after 50,000–60,000 km or every 3–5 years.

7. Coolant

Coolant regulates the engine’s temperature and prevents overheating. Replace it after about 100,000 km to maintain proper engine cooling.

8. Serpentine Belt

The serpentine belt powers multiple components, including the alternator and air conditioning system. It typically lasts for more than 100,000 km, but should still be replaced at that point to prevent breakdowns.

Regular replacement of parts at the right time ensures better performance, safety, and long-term savings. By following these intervals, you can keep your car in top condition and avoid unexpected repairs. Remember, timely maintenance is the key to a vehicle’s long life.
